AW109 TrekkerM
Rugged and reliable
Military operators require a helicopter that can perform under all conditions, day and night. The AW109 TrekkerM, the military version of the AW109 Trekker, is the new multi-role, light twin-engine helicopter that delivers rugged and reliable capability allied with outstanding mission flexibility, high performance and speed.
Missions & Features
Mission ready
The AW109 TrekkerM is a three-tonne class military helicopter that is ideally suited to a broad spectrum of battlefield missions including troop transport, cargo resupply and external lift, Casualty Evacuation/Medical Evacuation (CASEVAC/MEDEVAC), Search and Rescue (SAR), special forces operations, Command and Control (C2), and armed escort.
Built to perform
The AW109 TrekkerM is capable of operating in the most austere environments. It boasts excellent ‘hot and high’ performance, combined with high inherent safety levels. The rugged design, small footprint, and skid landing gear combine with a wide range of mission, role equipment and weapons to ensure true multi-role capability.
Maximum cabin flexibility
The helicopter features a spacious and unobstructed cabin that can be reconfigured rapidly for multiple battlefield missions. There is room for the rapid transport of fully-equipped troops, while large sliding doors provide exceptional access, rappelling and fast roping capability. Cabin door-mounted crew-served weapons ensure wide area threat suppression.
Advanced technology and safety
Technology and safety are at the heart of the AW109 TrekkerM. The low workload single/dual-pilot VFR/IFR integrated glass cockpit features advanced avionics and systems to provide excellent situational awareness. A Synthetic Vision System (SVS), Highway In The Sky (HITS) depiction, moving map and embedded Helicopter Terrain Avoidance Warning System (HTAWS) all enhance safety.
Optimised for the mission
The AW109 TrekkerM offers a wide range of optional mission equipment, including Defensive Aids Suite (DAS), multi-band radios, Electro-Optic/Infrared (EO/IR) device, searchlight, loudspeakers, Forward-Looking Infrared (FLIR), rescue hoist and cargo hook. There is also the option of a comprehensive suite of internal and external weapons.
Mission ready
The three-tonne class AW109 TrekkerM is ideally suited to a wide range of maritime missions including Casualty Evacuation/Medical Evacuation (CASEVAC/MEDEVAC), Search and Rescue (SAR), special forces operations, and cargo resupply/external lift.
Maritime capability
The helicopter provides light-twin class maritime capability. Lashing points and folding main rotor blades enable the AW109 TrekkerM to be secured during adverse weather and stowed in suitable hangars. Ground handling equipment attached to the skid landing gear allows the helicopter to be moved using handling systems, while the AW109 TrekkerM can also operate in the electromagnetic environment of ship operations.

Mission ready
The AW109 TrekkerM provides the perfect solution for the full spectrum of training missions ranging from ab initio through to Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and beyond. The helicopter gives students the ideal platform to hone their skills and be fully equipped for the transition to the most advanced military aircraft.
Built to perform
High power margins ensure a forgiving environment to introduce new pilots to rotary wing flight, while the counter-clockwise main rotor makes the transition to helicopters in a higher weight class easier and faster. Excellent ‘hot and high’ performance is allied with exceptional inherent safety levels. The rugged design, small footprint and skid landing gear combine with a wide array of mission and role equipment to provide true multi-role capability.
Unique cabin layout
The AW109 TrekkerM’s spacious cabin features a layout unique in its class which gives students additional opportunities to augment their learning. An observer seat is located behind and between the two pilot seats and provides an unobstructed view of the entire cockpit, controls and displays. Students can switch easily between observation and hands-on flying, enhancing training value and reducing required training times.
